London, the capital of the United Kingdom (UK), is one of the world’s most visited cities due to its cosmopolitan cultural scene and its vibrant arts community and its historical buildings and its ties to the Royal Family.

London is also the most diverse city in the UK, with around 30% of London’s residents born outside of the UK.  This brings diverse religious beliefs and opportunities to mix with people from their own country while meeting people from all walks of life.

As one of the world’s global cultural capital cities, London’s cultural experiences ranges from the West End’s theatre district, to loads of museums and art galleries, some of which have free entry.  London is also renowned for its lively music and comedy scenes, as well as, for many well-known professional sporting events.

And there is more than the traditional ‘Fish & Chips’ on the menu. London offers food from around the world through street markets, as well as, exquisitely devised menus from Michelin Star awarded restaurants.

As one of only two of the world’s Alpha cities, London is home to the world’s most billionaires.  It is also the world’s most ‘connected’ city, as London is home to many of the world’s biggest businesses’ Head Offices.

All of this has helped London regularly be voted the ‘best student city’ in the world, as it has been the home of many prestigious educational and research institutions.  It also offers many part-time job opportunities for international students.

However, all of this comes with some drawbacks, as London is home to nearly 10 million people, so it is a very busy and congested city, making it hard to get around.  As London is a very built-up city it has limited open or green spaces.

Demand for accommodation means that London is a very expensive place to live, including the tuition fees to attend its educational institutions, let alone day to day living expenses.
